WHAT IS BLEPHAROPLASTY (EYELID SURGERY)?
With advancing age sagging occurs in the eyebrows, upper and lower eyelids. In addition to these, bagging occurs with the increase in the volume of fat tissues in the lower eyelids. This situation creates a visual impairment and also prevents the person from seeing well.
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid surgery) is an operation to remove excess skin and adipose tissue from the upper and lower eyelids, which gives the face a tired and old look.
WHAT ARE THE TECHNIQUES USED IN BLEPHAROPLASTY PROCEDURE?
An incision is made in accordance with the natural opening and closing of the upper eyelid and the excess skin is removed.
On the lower eyelid, the excess skin and adipose tissue are removed with an incision made just below the eyelashes. These procedures are performed under local anesthesia and intravenous sedation. According to the patient's complaint, only the upper or lower eyelids or both the upper and lower eyelids can be treated at the same time. The process takes about 1 – 1.5 hours.
IN WHICH SITUATIONS CAN YOU HAVE BLEPHAROPLASTY PROCEDURE?
Blepharoplasty operation can be applied to you if you have sagging and excess skin due to muscle weakness in your upper eyelid, or if you have bagging and excess skin on your lower eyelid.
RECOVERY PROCESS AFTER BLEPHAROPLASTY
After the blepharoplasty procedure, you can go home the same day. Your stitches are removed 5-7 days after the operation. You can return to your normal life after 3 days. In about 6-7 months, the incision marks on your eyelids become unnoticeable.
CAN LENSES BE USED AFTER BLEPHAROPLASTY?
You can start using your contact lenses 2 weeks after the blepharoplasty procedure.
WHERE ARE THE INCISIONS MADE, IS THERE A BAD IMAGE?
Incisions for the upper eyelid are made about 2 mm above the eyelashes. On the lower eyelid, incisions are made just below the eyelashes. Therefore, a bad appearance does not occur.
ARE SURGICAL SCARS VISIBLE?
After the blepharoplasty procedure, the incisions do not leave any scars. Therefore, a noticeable bad appearance does not occur
