FACE & NECK LIFT

WHAT IS FACE AND NECK LIFT?

Due to aging, facial structure, genetic factors such as skin type, ethnicity, and external factors such as sun damage, deterioration in the collagen tissue of the skin, increase in wrinkles due to decrease in skin thickness and sagging of the skin occur. Face and neck lift operations help you look younger and livelier.

WHAT ARE THE TECHNIQUES USED IN FACE AND NECK LIFT?

Face lift surgeries can be performed using sedation and local anesthesia or under general anesthesia. Although the duration of surgery varies according to the application, it is predicted to be between 3-6 hours on average. In upper face (forehead) lift operations, an incision is made through the scalp. In midface (cheek) and lower face (neck) lift surgeries, the incisions are made by measuring the borders behind and in front of the ear. Since the scars of the operation remain in the fold areas and the scalp, the patient does not have permanent and obvious scars.

IN WHICH SITUATIONS CAN YOU HAVE A FACE AND NECK LIFT?

The best candidates for face and neck lift surgery are those who show signs of aging on their faces but retain skin elasticity. These are usually people in their 40s to 70s. For face and neck lift surgery, the person must be healthy and have realistic goals for the procedure. The surgeon will thoroughly examine the patient's medical history, performing a physical examination, before making a recommendation based on the patient's expectations and general health. In some cases, a smaller procedure may be sufficient to achieve the goals the person wants.

RECOVERY PROCESS AFTER FACE AND NECK LIFT

Recovery time for face and neck lift is approximately 1 to 2 weeks. Dressings are removed the day after surgery and replaced with a soft elastic bandage to reduce swelling and protect the neckline. This bandage is used for about two weeks.

There is some bruising and swelling after the face and neck lift procedure. In most cases, however, it is not noticeable after the first week. After the face and neck lift, the person should avoid strenuous exercises and weight lifting for two weeks.

When performed by a well-trained and experienced plastic surgeon, the risks from face lift surgery are extremely rare.

Loss of sensation in certain parts of the face, temporary muscle weakness, prolonged bruises or adverse reactions to the anesthetic used are some of the post-procedure side effects. During the pre-operative interview, you will also be informed about rare and more serious complications.

The standard incision for facelift surgery starts from the inside of the hair, follows the natural skin fold just in front of the ear, then turns behind the ear and disappears into the hair. Although the incision will leave a scar, a significant part of the incision will be hidden in your hair, and the part that is not in the hair will be camouflaged in a natural curl.

In the first 3-4 weeks of healing, the scars become red and prominent. In this period, scars can be hidden with make-up and hairstyle. Once the healing is complete, finding the scar is often quite difficult, even for someone who knows exactly where to look.

Yes, it is permanent. The results of most facelifts last for a very long time, ranging from seven to 15 years. The duration of the effect may vary depending on the person's skin structure, skeletal structure, the technique used, and the surgeon applying the technique. Once a facelift is done, it cannot be reversed, and it is permanent in that its effect is irreversible.  However, although the procedure will provide a significant improvement in visible signs of aging on your face, nothing can completely stop the aging process and you will continue to age in the years after surgery. Imagine you have an identical twin, with your face exactly the same. One of the twins who had facial rejuvenation surgery will look better than the other who did not have surgery 3 months, 3 years, 10 years after surgery. On the other hand, both will continue to age over the years.
